Ubuntu philosophy in music

ubuntu-1

Last Friday night, we enjoyed three performances in one. With tickets to see the joyous and uplifting South African vocal group Ladysmith Black Mambazo (remember Graceland by Paul Simon 30 years ago?!) we were surprisingly treated to exceptional opening acts by Samite of Uganda (solo vocal with kalimba), whom I first heard of in 1990, and South African bassist Bakithi Kumalo featuring Morris Goldberg on sax and pennywhistle and Brazillian percussionist Neni.

All musicians highly recommended for their messages of peace, hope, understanding and harmony!

Here’s a sampling…
